Best Korean comfort food in Los Angeles. Michelin rated, home cooked meals prepared with love by the owner's mother. I really missed by mom's warm, home cooked meals when I came back to visit my parents in the East Bay. I missed them so much during the holidays because the only way I can see them is to drive up to their cemetery before dust and after dawn. I couldn't make it in time to drop off my kids, 9 and 13 in schools the next morning, so I decided to let go, and relax by getting my hair done at the Ateliers by Tiffany Salon in DTLA where my sister-in-law used to work because they really take very good care of you, and I needed some emergency pampering. To my amazement, they not only delivered my expectations but I discovered Jun Won by shear luck because it was next door to the salon, and I needed a quick bite to eat before picking up my kids at school.

Jun Won not only delivered my expectations, they went beyond on their services too.

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound. That saved a wretch like me...I once was lost, but now, I'm found, was blind, but now, I see...Amen!

    Truly a Gem!

Probably one of the most authentic Korean places in ktown. I love all of their dishes. ALL OF THEM!!

I definitely recommend their bossam, their fermented kimchi stew, and any of the fish dishes. They even give you nooreungee(scorched rice) at the end.

Parking is valet. $2.50 for dinner

The only reason why I docked down a star was because of their price$$$$. It's definitely way pricier compared to other Korean restaurants with a similar menu. Each dish is around $15-20, and the bigger meat dishes can go up to $50

Met up with childhood friends for an early dinner.

First off, the owner and staff alike greet you right away with a very bright smile and a warm welcome, and were very attentive in making sure side dishes were refilled and drinks flowing.

Had Eundaegu-jorim, Shirmp-tofu soup, and Oyster-Port belly, all of which were delicious and NOT ladened with msg.  Of their side dishes, I loved the green onion kimchee (P'a-Gimchi).  Their mixed brown and white rice with the Eundaegu-jorim sauce went very well together; could have just had those two for an entire meal (awesome carbo loader for endurance atheletes!).

Highly recommend this place for anyone who crave real good, authentic Korean food!

Being Koreatown with all the restaurants around, it's pretty hard to stand out.  However, Jun Won is a bright shining star in the culinary landscape because of the quality, home-style Korean food.  Their dishes truly taste like how mom used to make it.

We ordered the endaegu jorrim (spicy braised cod), gangjang gaejang (spicy marinated raw crab), and kimchi jiggae (stew).  This was enough to feed four guys easily.  The fish was impossibly flaky, tender and rich.  The gaejang was sweet and spicy, with its delicate crab flesh.  For those who are uninitiated, yes we eat raw crab -- don't knock it until you try it!  If you like sushi, I'm positive you'll enjoy it.  You bite into the crab and suck the crab meat out -- can't be shy about it!  The kimchi jiggae took you back to your mom's kitchen - homemade tastes abounding.

The food is a little pricier, but the quality is worth it.  It's located in a strip mall, so be careful when you're going up Western.  It can be easy to miss.  There's valet parking available, per the usual Ktown arrangement.
